Melissa Peters is a seasoned and successful legal recruiter based in the greater New York City area, with an extensive track record of placing law firm partners and in-house counsel across all industries and practice areas. She has placed numerous law firm partners at AmLaw 200 firms, and works closely with smaller, “boutique” firms as well. In the in-house world, Melissa has significant experience placing lawyers at companies in the life sciences sector.

Melissa has spent over a decade in the legal search industry, where she has been consistently recognized as a top producer. She worked for an international executive search firm as well as a boutique legal recruiting firm focused on in-house placements. Before becoming a recruiter, Melissa started her career as an attorney at Morrison & Foerster, one of the largest, international, AmLaw 100 firms. She earned her JD from William & Mary Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif.

In addition to her experience as a lawyer, Melissa also has the unique experience of having worked as the Senior Manager of Lateral Recruiting at a top, AmLaw 100 global law firm. Her experiences as an attorney, legal recruiter, and in-house law firm recruiter provide her with an understanding of the search process from every angle. Indeed, she has been both a “client” of search firms and a “candidate” herself. As a search firm owner, Melissa is proactive in partnering with her clients to find them the right legal talent, and she is an “out-of-the-box” thinker who guides lawyers throughout the search process to ensure they find the right fit.

Outside of recruiting, Melissa is a hot yoga devotee and enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and two rescue mutts.
